We need more from Earth Day
America celebrated the first Earth Day On April 22, 1970. It was a needed celebration to bring to light how pollution was killing this world. Today, Earth Day is no longer celebrated nationally but is celebrated around the globe.
Since those early days, we have done a pretty good job cleaning up the planet. Yet , there is a staggering divide between children and the outdoors, child advocacy expert Richard Louv directly links the lack of nature in the lives of today’s wired generation-he calls it nature-deficit. A childhood trend that may cause rises in attention disorders, obesity, and depression.
His recent book,Last Child in the Woods, has spurred a national dialog among educators, health professionals, parents, developers and conservationists. It clearly show we and our youth need to spend time in nature.

Looking For Children Stories With Morals

This is opposed to recreational matter that seems to dwell more on sex, violence, action without consequence. Parents may have reason to be concerned about the material their children are absorbing through television and games. Even though there are parental advisory warnings now, not all parents have the luxury to preview everything their child purchases or borrows from friends.
